Off the beaten path, via a remote scenic bi-way, lies the picturesque community of Young, Arizona. Nestled in the heart of the Tonto National Forest, the countryside is dotted with windmills and historic landmarks dating back to the Pleasant Valley Wars of the Old West.

oung, also known as Pleasant Valley, is comprised of 5000 acres and is home to approximately only 900 full-time and part-time residents, as well as to cattle, horses, and other animals that graze on this rich, pristine land.

Primarily a retirement and second-home community, Young is increasingly attracting families who want to escape the traffic, pollution, and crime that is associated with larger cities.   Facilities in town include a convenience store, gas station, two restaurants, churches, a medical center, a community center, a post office, a library, and an independent insurance agency. (all on a small-town scale, of course!)

In addition, Young Public School provides Pre K - 12 education.  Aside from the standard curriculums, YPS students enjoy a healthy year-round extra-curricular schedule that includes  sports, FFA, and drama.    And everyone benefits from the small teacher-to- student ratio that enables educators to attend to the needs of every child.

The spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife of the Tonto National Forest also attracts visitors year-round.  Recreational activities include hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking.   Picnicking along the various creeks is also popular..... and the weather usually cooperates.  The average daytime temperatures in Pleasant Valley range from 85 degrees in summer, to a mild 50 degrees in winter.
